M I S S I O N  S T A T E M E N T :
“PEOPLE REACHING PEOPLE FOR CHRIST”

OUR MISSION

- to edify one another through Christian education, reach out and present the Gospel to all through evangelism, minister to the various needs and concerns of the members, adherents, and friends through mission/service, meeting together and have communion with Christ through fellowship, and hold regular worship services of praise, singing, and prayer through worship.

OUR VISION

- to empower the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generation Filipino-Canadian Christians in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada to be a good tentmaker (2 Thess. 3:7-9).

WHO ARE WE?

The church of Christ was established on the day of Pentecost following the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ from the grave

(Acts 2). It is not denominational, nor is it even non-denominational, for when it was founded, the idea of a denomination had not yet been born in the minds of men. It has neither creed nor other man-made guide, but relies solely upon the Word of God for its guidance and direction. It was founded by Christ (Matthew 16:18; Ephesians 5:25), with Christ still remaining as its Head (Ephesians 1:22-23; Colossians 1:18).

This congregation is, and shall always be, a locally autonomous body, that is, a body responsible for its own government in harmony with the principles of New Testament and the laws of British Columbia and Canada. Our purpose is to help one another worship God, minister to each other’s need, and to present the Gospel to all. This is to be understood as purposing to hold regular worship services of praise, singing, and prayer to the God of the Bible, and to have communion with Him. To meet together in order to minister to the various needs and concerns of the members, adherents, and friends of the Church; whether these are spiritual needs, physical needs, growth in virtue concerns, educational or doctrinal concerns, social or family concerns with the goal of helping one another become more Christlike and to share the Good News of God’s love to as many people as possible regardless of social, economic, religious, or ethnic background.

This congregation, believing in the Bible as the Word of God, shall take the New Testament of the Bible as its rule of faith and practice in matters of doctrine, life, and order. Bylaws and rules of procedure shall from time to time be enacted to facilitate carrying out the policies and procedures we may adopt.

We are every-day people desiring to be mere Christians but not the only Christians. We seek simply to study and practice the only Word of God, the Bible. We are not bound by denominational ties, traditions, doctrines, or organizations. We are not a denomination.  We have no creeds or confessions of faith; the Bible alone is our source of faith (Romans 10:17). We strive to practice simple New Testament Christianity. We desire to be the church that Christ built (Matthew 16:18)--the church of Christ (Romans 16:16).

5 COMPONENTS OF A TENTMAKER GROUP

Your Tentmaking Job was your Ministry

Scripture shows us that Paul saw his tentmaking job as an important part of his ministry. As an expert disciple-maker, Paul knew that truth must be modeled as well as spoken. He wrote, ―For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example...we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to make ourselves a model for you to follow” (2 Thess. 3:7-9). While Paul was doing his tentmaking job, he was showing believers how a person can live the Christian life in a secular work environment. He lived and worked in the same conditions as his disciples. No doubt the new converts thought to themselves, ―If Paul can live for Christ while working in a secular job, so can I!

  1. Bible-Centered Content

The Bible shall be our basis for content since it is the primary revelation of Jesus Christ, the author and perfector of our faith.

   2. Intentional Leader.

The person(s) leading the group with purpose of guiding the participants toward maturity in Christ.

   3. Relational environment.

A loving, safe and interactive small group where people can be authentic and vulnerable as they explore, experience, and grow in                             relationship  with Jesus and others, inspiring a culture of discipleship as we do life together.

   4. Reproducible process.

The modeling, training, equipping, and releasing of those being discipled to disciple others.

   5. Church alignment

Being humbly unified in our discipleship efforts as the family of God.
